AI products and launches
We work with product and research teams on the legal questions that arise through the process of building and launching AI technologies, and on the terms, consumer disclosures, and marketing claims that go with a launch.
Jackson Hall Strategies is a law firm for companies in the technology sector, with a focus on AI companies. Founded by two former in-house counsel, we serve as fractional general counsel to early-stage startups, extend small in-house legal teams, and advise established technology companies on building and deploying AI at scale. We run the firm using AI tools, including ones we’ve built ourselves.
Talk to usFor AI startups without a legal function, we serve as fractional general counsel. We scope each engagement to what the company needs, which can include product and go-to-market review, regulatory exposure risk assessments, bet-the-company deals, board and investor questions, and the AI-specific legal issues that come up for companies building in this area.
For companies that already have a general counsel or a small in-house team, we extend the team on an as-needed or ongoing basis. We take the specialist questions on AI, privacy, and product development, pick up the overflow when a fundraise or a launch stretches the team thin, and work inside your tools and cadence rather than at arm’s length.
For larger companies, we help answer the strategic questions that come with building and deploying AI in consumer products at scale: how to structure a launch, what a regulator will ask, where the real exposure is, and how to make a defensible call when the law hasn’t caught up. We made those calls as in-house lawyers and we know how to work with the legal, policy, and product teams already in place.
We advise on the legal questions that come up when you build a product, bring it to market, and run the business. The specific work depends on what you are building and what your team needs.
We work with product and research teams on the legal questions that arise through the process of building and launching AI technologies, and on the terms, consumer disclosures, and marketing claims that go with a launch.
We advise on the privacy and intellectual property questions behind decisions about the data that is collected and used for product development and help put the answer into product choices, agreements, and disclosures.
We help companies assess their position, make defensible decisions when the rules are unsettled, and build governance processes that let teams keep moving.
The legal questions that reach the founder, general counsel, or board: a consequential deal, a new business model, investor diligence, or a decision about how the company should operate. We help work through the choices and give the business a clear recommendation.
We founded the firm in 2025 for this moment in law and technology. From the firm’s founding, we’ve built our own AI-powered tools and workflows to run the firm and to do the work, from research and market review, to matter management and capturing and deploying firm judgment. This experience shapes how we work, how we understand our clients, and the advice we give. As the technology advances, we are excited to keep building.
Both founders spent a decade each as in-house lawyers at large technology companies and focused the last several years on questions no one had answered yet.
Olivia was the first general counsel of the Oversight Board which was building a governance model for the hardest questions in online speech with no template to follow. Alisa led the product legal team for generative AI at Meta in 2024 when Meta AI and the Llama models shipped at consumer scale and faster than the rules that would govern them. She was giving product and research teams answers on questions no one had faced before, in the early days of this generation of AI.
Both roles required the same thing: lead on a novel question, with little precedent, and still give the business a clear and practical answer it can act on. We built the firm around that capability and that is what our clients hire us for.
A team led by our two founders, who bring twenty years of in-house experience in tech, supported by a legal fellow and academic advisors.
If you’re an AI company that needs strategic legal advice, or a technology company with a question about AI that doesn’t have an obvious answer, we’d like to hear from you.
